  Traditional Tamales 😍        Tamales are made with seasoned chicken or pork, all wrapped in a special homemade dough called masa and is then steamed in plantain or banana leaves. These Tamales on the above picture are served at the Women's group in San Antonio Cayo. It was served with a vegetable salad drizzled in a homemade peanut sauce with chips.

Making Traditional Corn tortillas at San Antonio Women's Co-op Belize  The Garcia Sisters   The Women's group at San Antonio is a group that shares the Mayan culture with others by preserving their traditions and beliefs. when visiting you will learn how to grind corn into a dough called masa and make traditional corn tortillas. Also, the group provides pottery classes, weaving and other arts. This was really an unforgettable experience. The sisters were so friendly and the atmosphere itself is so welcoming. If you are around San Antonio Cayo take a stop by, you will definitely not regret your experience.
