Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley

Located approximately 4 miles south of San-Pedro Ambergris Caye lies an underwater paradise. The Hol Chan Marine reserve and Shark Ray Alley are two famous protected areas in Belize rich with corals and marine life. If you are a sea lover this is the right place for you. Swim with the sting rays and nurse sharks (which is a species of shark completely harmless to humans) while getting to know more about the reserves and how it came to be.

Up close and Personal
A trip for the whole family to enjoy

Enjoy watching the Nurse sharks feed on chum right from the boat or grab a fin and snorkel and jump right in to view them up close!!

Super Friendly Sharks!!

My first experience at Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley

Just one jump into the crystal blue water and you will fall in love. Its a indescribable feeling when you first get in. I was 9 years old when I first visited and it was a terrifying feeling when I saw the sharks surrounding the boat. Just the thought of jumping in the sea with sharks was terrifying to me because I was unaware of what nurse sharks were until the tour guide, who happens to be my father, informed me that nurse sharks were completely friendly. He explained that the sharks are no threat to humans and are only coming around the boat because they think we'll give them chum. When I finally built the courage to jump in I didn't regret it one bit. Its amazing to see a whole new world under the sea filled with different species of fish, sting rays, corals, moray eels and turtles. I visit the reserves every chance I get and every time its a different experience because you can never be sure of what you will see. Now, I jump out of the boat without hesitation.
